Exante is an EU-based investment firm that is headquartered in Malta. It provides its clients with a range of instruments and markets that they can directly access through their all-in-one trading account. Established in 2011, Exante’s founders include Anatoly Knyazev Exante, Gatis Eglitis, and Alexey Kirienko. The firm provides two versions of its trading platform – the first is a downloadable version that can be installed on both mobile and desktop operating systems, and the second is a web-based trading platform. In this review, we go over some of the features Exante’s web trading platform provides.
An Overview
Exante’s web platform provides its clients with a convenient and quick way to trade directly in their web browser. This means you can stay on top of the market no matter where you are and what you are doing. The intuitive and easy-to-use trading tool is also equipped with powerful features, like Charts. As everything is web-based, there is no need to install a program to begin trading. Traders only need to open up Exante’s terminal in their browser and get trading. The platform is compatible with browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Opera, making it incredibly flexible and versatile.
Instruments
The instruments tab contains all the financial instruments available for traders. They are grouped by type and sorted in alphabetical order. Traders can either start typing the instrument’s name or ticker in the search bar to narrow down the list, or they can navigate further to expand each node in the Instruments tree.
Traders also have the ability to click on an instrument to switch it in the Time and Sales, Market Depth, Order and Chart panels. You can even drag and drop to add the instrument to the Quote Monitor panel, making the trading platform extremely intuitive and easy to use.
That said, options are not visible in the Instruments tree by default. Fortunately, traders can change this by going into the platform’s Settings and flipping the Show Options switch to see them. However, the loading process may take up to several minutes depending on one’s internet connection speed. If the tree is in the process of updating, traders can see the progress bar right above the search field.
Charts
Exante’s web trading platform allows users to visit their financial data through their Chart. They can also aggregate the data using different time intervals, add indicators or drawings, and choose a chart style that suits their trading preference, and more. The timeframes that can be chosen in a Chart include 1, 5, 10, or 15 minutes; 1, 4, or 6 hours; 1 day; 1 week or 1 month.
One thing that makes Exante’s Charts unique is its collaborative abilities. Traders can share their Chart with a friend by simply copying a link from the address bar. This shareable link features not only the instrument being shared by also the timeframe as well.
If the other person has not registered an account with Exante yet, Exante has that covered too. Traders can also share a link to a Demo Chart instead. However, do note that quotes in the Demo are delayed by at least 30 minutes.
Quote Monitor
The Quote Monitor panel provides traders with real-time data quote streams. This means they can simply drag and drop up to 100 instruments to the Monitor to keep track of their dynamics. The Quote Monitor also tracks all essential data on a trading session. This includes the instrument name and description, bid/ask/mid prices and bid/ask sizes, last quote update time, price changes in percentage and absolute terms, and quote feed status. Traders can further customise what they see in the panel by clicking on the gear sign at the top to choose to make which column is visible.
Settings and Preferences
Exante’s web trading platform also allows traders to customise the program to suit their preferences. This can be done in the Settings panel. For example, traders can switch the Dark Theme toggle, which defines the overall colour scheme of the web platform. The main idea behind a dark theme is that it reduces the light emitted by device screens while maintaining the minimum colour contrast ratios needed to make it readable.
Traders can also click on the Show Notifications toggle, which defines whether or not they will receive order notifications while the Web platform is running in their browser.
If your first language is not English, do not fret. The language can be changed in Exante’s trading platform. This s done by using the dropdown menu in the top-right corner of the platform. You can click to choose a preferred language. Some languages Exante provides are German, Spanish, Italian, Simplified Chinese, Portuguese, and more.
You can also switch the default currency in the application. While Exante does use the default currency when calculating NAV, Cash Balance values, Margin and more, you can still compare instruments in different currencies. This is done by switching the currency in the dropdown menu at the top-right corner of the screen. Some currencies you can switch to include AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, HKD, JPY and more.
